As an entrepreneur who’s constantly trying to broaden the scope of his brand and business, I completely live by “doing more with less”.

In this day and age, even smaller teams can compete with giant companies with enormous marketing budgets. How, might you ask? By simply providing quality content for others on the internet.

It sounds simple. But as with most things in life, if you want to be successful you’ll have to put in work. It isn’t too hard to start creating content that gives something valuable to your customers, you just have to decide to get started and consistently deliver.

If you want to establish yourself as an authority in your industry (law, accounting, consulting, broadcasting, retail, education, etc…) the fastest way to do so is to have a strong presence on YouTube.

The times of reading through content is almost gone. Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve noticed everyone around you is absolutely glued to their smartphone or tablets. People don’t have a long attention span anymore. They expect to understand what value you bring to their lives as a business in the shortest amount of time. And there’s nothing more direct than communicating through video.

Reason 2: Video Establishes You as The Expert.

How can you establish credibility with someone whom you’ve never communicated or done business with? A strong, 30 second, explainer video that clearly demonstrates the core value of your business serves as a great way to start. It’s just as strong as sending out your best sales reps to pitch to a new client, with the added benefit that you control the message every single time. If you take it one step further, and actually start uploading consistent videos on your YouTube channel, your customers will start to get a much better picture of what you’re about. The possibilities are endless:

  • Share with them your experience, and then ask them to reach out to you if they want to receive a more specific approach.

It’s all about giving value. You have to give something in order to receive.

Educating customers is the fastest path to establishing credibility and then growing your brand. The key is to be consist and try to upload new content at least once per week. It’s not hard to start making professional looking videos, any modern smartphone tends to have an amazing camera built right in.

The difference is having customers come to you versus you having to hunt for them. There’s a time and a place for each style of marketing strategy, but there’s nothing sexier than having customers find you on their own and inquire about your services all on their own.

People love to buy things but they hate being sold.

Give them reasons to trust you and respect you as the authority in your industry, and you will thrive.
