3 Reasons Why Your Business Needs a YouTube Channel

As an entrepreneur who’s constantly trying to broaden the scope of his brand and business, I completely live by “doing more with less”.

In this day and age, even smaller teams can compete with giant companies with enormous marketing budgets. How, might you ask? By simply providing quality content for others on the internet.

It sounds simple. But as with most things in life, if you want to be successful you’ll have to put in work. It isn’t too hard to start creating content that gives something valuable to your customers, you just have to decide to get started and consistently deliver.

If you want to establish yourself as an authority in your industry (law, accounting, consulting, broadcasting, retail, education, etc…) the fastest way to do so is to have a strong presence on YouTube.

Why would you ask? Well if you are a brick and mortar store your marketing and outreach is limited to the people who pass by your store or place of business, and those who are referred to you. That’s it. But the world has changed. Another world exists around you in broader terms.

People nowadays expect you to exist online as much as in the physical sense. How can someone that’s in your same city find you if you don’t have a website or have your business listed in Google Maps? If you aren’t promoting yourself correctly, you might be losing revenue as a result. And even if you are doing all the basic things right, you could be doing SO much better!

But if you ask me, what the best, fastest, most impactful way to market your business today is, I’d sum it up in one single word.

VIDEO.

Having a strong video marketing is the trump card in your arsenal. The one thing that’s proven to cut through all the noise and really set you apart.

Reason 1: People Desire Rich Media.

The times of reading through content is almost gone. Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve noticed everyone around you is absolutely glued to their smartphone or tablets. People don’t have a long attention span anymore. They expect to understand what value you bring to their lives as a business in the shortest amount of time. And there’s nothing more direct than communicating through video.

Reason 2: Video Establishes You as The Expert.

How can you establish credibility with someone whom you’ve never communicated or done business with? A strong, 30 second, explainer video that clearly demonstrates the core value of your business serves as a great way to start. It’s just as strong as sending out your best sales reps to pitch to a new client, with the added benefit that you control the message every single time. If you take it one step further, and actually start uploading consistent videos on your YouTube channel, your customers will start to get a much better picture of what you’re about. The possibilities are endless:

  • Use a short video to answer a commonly asked question.
  • Give your customers an overview of an upcoming product.
  • Share with them your experience, and then ask them to reach out to you if they want to receive a more specific approach.

It’s all about giving value. You have to give something in order to receive.

Reason 3: Video is the Easiest Way to Educate and Evangelize Your Audience.

This goes together with establishing yourself as the subject matter expert in your industry. How will anyone know you are an expert if you don’t discuss things which are pertinent to your environment or scope? By being that business that provides the uncommon, insightful, well thought out advice, you INSTANTLY set yourself apart from 95% of your competition. Educating customers is the fastest path to establishing credibility and then growing your brand. The key is to be consist and try to upload new content at least once per week. It’s not hard to start making professional looking videos, any modern smartphone tends to have an amazing camera built right in.

The difference is having customers come to you versus you having to hunt for them. There’s a time and a place for each style of marketing strategy, but there’s nothing sexier than having customers find you on their own and inquire about your services all on their own.

People love to buy things but they hate being sold.

Give them reasons to trust you and respect you as the authority in your industry, and you will thrive.

Rome wasn’t built in a day, but if you want to start strengthening your brand, there’s nothing more effective than leveraging the power of video and establishing a following on YouTube by providing quality content that your customers will value.
